Course Description

General Aim

  • To discover the audiovisual as a tool for collective action, empowerment and promotion of intercultural perspectives.
  • To understand the audiovisual participatory methodology in the context of commons.

Learning outcomes

  • Ability to observe and analysis of reality through the lens of the camera
  • Ability to discover the potential of the audiovisual to develop collective creations.
  • Ability to identify educational commons characteristics in audiovisual participatory methodology

 Brief description

The session focuses on the audiovisual participatory methodology, specifically the audiovisual narrative productions, as a mechanism for introspection and possible empowerment and collective action tool. The seminar introduces participants to the discovery of the narratives possibilities of audiovisual to explain stories and connect emotionally to people, the activities also focus on the educational commons perspective of this methodology, especially in relation to the collective construction of knowledge and the inversion of roles.

  • To present community media as a tool to promote pluralism and freedom of expression.
  • To reflect on the advantages, possibilities and limitations of social media in the educational field and activism.

 Brief description

The session focuses on understanding the influence of media representation as social agents. On the other hand, the lesson encourages reflection about ways of working and interests of traditional media vs the community media approach.
